Persephone in Love

Do you ever think that Persephone eventually fell in love with Hades? And it has nothing to do with Stockholm syndrome or anything similar. That maybe she actually loved him?

Maybe instead of being confined for six months to the Underworld, she saw it more as being doomed to another six months among mortals but without Hades.

Maybe, if she seemed at all sad while in the Underworld, it was because she knew her time there was brief, and she would soon be apart from her husband again.

And maybe Persephone’s story of pity and despair is only perpetuated because no one is capable of understanding that she could love him. And does love him.

Maybe Persephone only returns to the mortal world because she does not want to deprive them of spring and summer. Maybe that’s just who she is. And maybe Hades willingly lets her go because he sees how much it means to her, his wife.

Maybe they both love each other more than any two people have ever loved before.
