In deep country
she finds
her strength.
Surrounded by barren
Earth, she nurtures
nature. She reveals
her femininity
which is her
power. She gives,
yes, but she gives
to receive. It is not
a selfless
act. She finds
wild asparagus
to transplant, to feed
her body. She tends
the berry bushes
and commands the
trees to give her fruit.
It is her nature
to belong–
to rule–
nature.
She is woman
and she
dominates.
In deep country,
she needs no man
