A new coat of paint won’t fix anything

Farmyard Scene (ca. 1872–1874) by Winslow Homer. Original from The Clark Art Institute. Digitally enhanced by rawpixel.

Maybe, sometimes,
things are just best
left.
Leaving the tomato
to ripen.
Sticking with the same job.
Staying in the same place.
Hanging with the same
crowd.

“Good things come
to those who wait,”
they say. And,
I think,
they’re right
sometimes.
We come to
find beauty
where we’re at.
We come to
find peace
when we stand
still.
We all love the same
chipped coffee mug
because it’s what
we’ve always had.
