If there is such a thing as good, all-encompassing advice for the future, this is it. Cue, mindset shift.
I’m just thinking about how something extraordinary can happen at any moment–you discover a new passion, you make the best apple crisp you’ve ever had, you fall in love, you become a published author. Oftentimes, the extraordinary comes unexpectedly and much sooner than you could have anticipated. And this is always the case for people who don’t believe anything better is ever coming for them, for those stuck in a Sisyphean loop (which doesn’t have to be bad, by the way, but that’s a whole different subject). And then, in a matter of moments, their life belongs to someone else, they are someone else, and hopelessness is but a distant memory, a vague concept of something once familiar. It really does happen that fast.
In case you can’t see it, the advice that comes from this thinking is simple: you must look for these opportunities, these glimmers of change, and go after them. Accept them. You must not dwell on the “what if’s” because these glimmers are meant for you. You just have to trust yourself. They take you to new places which lead you to new places which lead you to discover more of yourself and what your life can be. Just stop thinking so hard. Listen to your instinct, because, with an open and receptive mind, EVERYTHING works in your favor.
